Midnapore Medical College and Hospital, situated in Midnapore, West Bengal, was established in 2004. It originated from the former Midnapur Sadar Hospital in West Midnapur.
The transformation was executed by the Government of West Bengal to address the growing need for medical professionals and provide medical education to the youth. Given the increasing population and the corresponding demand for doctors, the West Bengal government decided to establish a medical college in the Paschim Midnapur district. Consequently, the existing Midnapur Sadar Hospital was selected for conversion, necessitating extensions, alterations, and new constructions.
This institution is formally approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), Government of India, New Delhi. It is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and offers undergraduate courses in the field of medical science.
