About Faculty Of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi New Delhi, Delhi

The Faculty of Dentistry at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), located in New Delhi, stands as a highly regarded institution for dental education and research in India.

Jamia Millia Islamia, an institution originally established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India in 1920 became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988.

In Urdu language, Jamia means ‘University’, and Millia means ‘National’.

Admission to the B.D.S. program is intensely competitive, relying strictly on scores from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), reflecting its national significance and limited intake of typically 50 seats.

The faculty benefits significantly from the overall academic excellence of its parent university, which holds an 'A++' grade from NAAC and consistently ranks among the top universities in the country.

This strong foundation in a central university environment provides students with access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, experienced faculty, and a multidisciplinary research atmosphere, positioning JMI's dental college as a preferred choice for aspiring dental professionals.

The story of its growth from a small institution in the pre-independence India to a central university located in New Delhi—offering integrated education from nursery to research in specialized areas—is a saga of dedication, conviction and vision of a people who worked against all odds and saw it growing step by step. They “built up the Jamia Millia stone by stone and sacrifice by sacrifice,” said Sarojini Naidu, the nightingale of India.
