The Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is a prominent Government autonomous medical college and teaching hospital located in Raichur, Karnataka, established in the year 2007 by the Government of Karnataka. RIMS operates with a dual mission: to provide high-quality medical education and to offer affordable, comprehensive healthcare services to the people of North Karnataka and the surrounding regions. The institute is formally affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, and holds recognition from the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, ensuring its adherence to national standards for medical training. RIMS is a comprehensive medical institution offering both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The flagship course is the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), which is a 5.5-year program including a one-year compulsory rotating medical internship, with an annual intake of 150 seats. Admission to the MBBS course is based on the results of the NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). At the postgraduate level, RIMS offers MD (Doctor of Medicine) and MS (Master of Surgery) degrees in various specialties such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry, with a total PG intake capacity of around 39 seats. Admission to the PG courses requires an MBBS degree and a qualifying score in the NEET PG examination.
