Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College & Hospital (SNMMCH), located in Saraidhela, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, is a government medical college with a long history—established around 1969–1971 under the name “Patliputra Medical College,” later renamed.It is affiliated with Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).As of 2023, the college offers 100 MBBS seats per year (up from earlier lower intake) under the NMC’s norms. The campus has an attached teaching hospital with over 500 beds, serving a large patient load—several thousand outpatients daily—and provides clinical exposure across many specialties. SNMMCH also has been recently approved to offer postgraduate (PG) courses in certain departments, starting from the 2024‑25 session for example in General Medicine. The infrastructure includes modern clinical departments (surgery, orthopedics, ICU/emergency etc.), paramedical training, lecture halls, labs, and hostel facilities. Overall, SNMMCH is an important government medical college in Jharkhand, serving not just Dhanbad but also adjoining districts, with a mission to provide quality medical education and affordable health services.
