Sher‑i‑Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), located in Soura, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, is a premier medical institution of the region that serves as a super‑specialty hospital, research centre, and deemed university. Established with construction beginning in 1976 and partial commissioning in December 1982, SKIMS was granted the status of a deemed university by an Act of Legislature on 19 August 1983.
