Founded in 1951, this was the first Co-operative Society Hospital in India.
Established under the leadership of Dr. Gangadhar Rao Deshpande (freedom fighter, social reformer).
The core mission is to provide affordable, quality healthcare and education to rural and economically weaker sections.
Managed by Shri J. G. Co-operative Hospital Society Ltd., Ghataprabha, which has since grown into a large healthcare + education hub in North Karnataka.
