About State Model Institute of Ayurveda Science Gandhinagar, Gujarat

The State Model Institute of Ayurveda Sciences (SMIAS), Kolavada, Gandhinagar, Gujarat is a state‑run model institute established under the Directorate of Indian System of Medicine & Homoeopathy, Government of Gujarat.The campus spreads over ~15 acres, with over 75,000 sq. meters of constructed area including modern college, hospital, library and administrative blocks.
SMIAS offers the B.A.M.S. program (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery), currently with an intake of about 75 students including seats under the All‑India quota, with plans to increase this in the future.The institute is affiliated with Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, and is approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).
Academically and clinically, SMIAS is well equipped: the attached hospital has 400 beds, comprehensive OPD/IPD services, specialty clinics (e.g. Myopia, Obesity, Cancer Care), Panchakarma units, surgery‑(Shalya) & ENT/Eye (Shalyakya) departments, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, and wellness/yoga/yoga hall facilities.Infrastructure for students includes separate hostels for girls and boys (Maitrayee Bhawan & Agnivesha Bhawan) with a combined capacity of about 1,000 students, herbal garden with hundreds of medicinal species, well‑furnished library, and support amenities like guest house, cafeteria etc.
